The Upper Saranac Cookbook Almost Gone!

 Limited Copies Available

at the Wild Center, Adirondack Museum

and other Local Stores

The Upper Saranac Cookbook Committee is now sold out of all copies of the highly successful cookbook. However, a limited number remain on sale at retail prices at The Wild Center, the Adirondack Museum, the Trading Post, The Book Store Plus, Simply Gourmet and a few other local stores. Thanks to all on the lake for your wonderful support of this successful project.

A limited edition regional cookbook, The Upper Saranac Cookbook:  An Adirondack Treasury of 500 Recipes, is a hardcover, three-ring binder book with full-color cover and recipe category divider pages by well known Adirondack photographer Burdette Parks.  It contains 500 tried-and-true family recipes drawn from more than 100 years of hospitality on Upper Saranac Lake.  Recipes contributed by 240 families and chefs, including two recipes from The Point, an exclusive lodging in a former Rockefeller Great Camp on the lake.  Recipe categories are Appetizers and Beverages, Breakfast and Brunch, Soups, Salads, Main Courses, Vegetables and Sides, From the Grill, Breads and Rolls and Sweets and Desserts.

All proceeds will be used to fight an invasive aquatic plant called Eurasian Water Milfoil, which threatens this lake and more than 48 others in the Adirondack Park.  A $25,000 first donation check from the cookbook has been turned over to the Upper Saranac Lake Foundation for milfoil control. It is expected that total charitable benefits from the book will be approximately $37,000.  Another $14,000 has been donated for milfoil control through the cookbook account by the families of Wenonah. The Maggs, Schoff and Welch families recently turned over to the cookbook fund for milfoil control the entire payment from two national retailers who used the historic great Camp Wenonah for a photo shoot. Their generosity will boost the total gross proceeds of the ACT for Upper Saranac Milfoil Fund to more than $50,000.

If you are looking for copies of the book, you may call or visit these locations.which purchased the cookbook and may still have very limited copies.
